Tory plans 'would not solve pensions crisis'

The government's pensions policy may be helping generate the widespread sense of a crisis but Conservative plans would not solve it, leading organisations said yesterday.

Their comments came as David Willetts, the Conservative work and pensions spokesman, warned that "the scale and implications of the pensions crisis is still not understood", and that it was "up there with terrorism or global warming as a threat to much of what we value".
