ON SHOW WHO, WHAT, WHERE AND WHY THIS WEEK

Miami style

An interiors show with a difference opens on Thursday in Miami. Since its inception in Buenos Aires in 1985, Casadecor has taken over abandoned buildings in cities around the world and given them over to architects and designers with free rein to decorate them as they please. This year, more than 60 have taken over a 50,000 sq ft, multi-storey building on Biscayne Boulevard to produce a series of lofts, apartments, studios, libraries and gardens. This being Miami, almost everything you see is on sale. And, as this home by Michael Wok Design from last year's show (pictured above) illustrates, the aesthetic is not exactly pared down. But the show is an excellent opportunity to pick up design ideas.
