Ecuador in crisis after violence flares in Congress

Ecuador, one of the most politically unstable countries in South America, was embroiled in crisis on Wednesday after a confrontation between the leftwing government and the Congress turned violent.

Two members of the legislature and four other protestors were injured in clashes at the Congress building in Quito after 18 deposed parliamentarians attempted to break a police barrier barring them from the chamber.
