Weighing the need for a better balance

The headline statistics look pretty good. On an island of just 90,000 people, the value of economic activity is more than £3.4bn.

Gross national income is about $57,000 per head, second only to Luxembourg. Registered unemployment in June was just 330 people, and about 1,200 extra jobs were created in the past year.
