Darling firm on CGT reforms

Alistair Darling invited business groups to submit an entrepreneurs' wish list for his next Budget, but refused to bow to pressure to reverse his capital gains tax reforms, during a tense hour-long summit on Monday.

The Downing Street meeting with the UK's four main business groups was held in response to their warning that the pre-Budget report decision to scrap the 10 per cent rate of CGT will damage enterprise.
