Moonshine is given the academic seal of approval

Illicit or home-produced alcohol - better known as moonshine - has a terrifying reputation. From El Salvador to Estonia, it has been the cause of death and blindness.

Now, however, moonshine's toxic image is being challenged by academic research that suggests it is generally safe - and can even taste better than legally-produced alcohol brands.
