Financial Times, May 18, 2004

AOL is to sell its Japanese internet service provider operations to local group eAccess for Y2.1bn ($18m), ending its eight-year foray into Japan.

The Time Warner subsidiary has signed up just 400,000 subscribers since 1996 - in stark contrast to rival Yahoo BB, a subsidiary of Softbank, which has attracted 4m users in three years.
